Shelterbelt in Kozliv Village, Studenykivska TC - Site 1
The second shelterbelt was established in Studenykivska TC as part of the Shelterbelts of Life project, and the first one established in Kozliv Village. The planting runs along the boundary of the Studenykivskyi Regional Landscape Park and will help protect the natural area from the impacts of agricultural activity.

Shelterbelt Composition
The shelterbelt is primarily composed of English oak. Other species planted include linden, rowan, pine, English walnut, and sour cherry.

The planting material was provided by Teteriv Forestry, a branch of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.”
Combining different tree species increases the resilience of the planting and enhances its value for local biodiversity. Oak forms the foundation of the shelterbelt, while linden, rowan, pine, walnut, and cherry diversify its composition.
The shelterbelt extends from the exit of Kozliv Village toward the Kotetske tract. It runs alongside the road and separates agricultural land from the territory of the Studenykivskyi Regional Landscape Park. A buffer strip has been established between the shelterbelt and the field, creating an additional protective barrier between the agricultural land and the protected natural area.
How the Shelterbelt Was Established
Before planting, the Studenykivskyi Regional Landscape Park team cleared the site, mechanically prepared the soil, and created planting furrows. The Studenykivska Village Council provided organizational support and involved local institutions in the work.
The main planting took place on November 13, 2025. Following a pre-designed six-row planting scheme, the trees and shrubs were planted by 17 participants, including employees of the Studenykivskyi Regional Landscape Park, representatives of the community’s executive administration and cultural institutions, the community police officer, and members of the project team.
Project specialists also provided the community with legal consultations on the legal status of shelterbelts and available options for their protection and preservation.
To prepare the site, carry out the planting, and support subsequent maintenance, the park received:

- Husqvarna earth auger bit

Shelterbelt Monitoring Dates
- March 17, 2026 – monitoring assessment of the condition of the plantings.
Soil Analysis
An agrochemical analysis of the soil was conducted to establish baseline data for assessing plant growing conditions, planning maintenance, and tracking changes throughout the shelterbelt’s seven-year monitoring period.
Baseline soil data: the soil is non-saline; pH of the water extract – 7.5, pH of the salt extract – 6.9; organic matter content – 4.4%; nitrate nitrogen – 7.1 mg/kg; available phosphorus – 377 mg/kg; available potassium – 61 mg/kg.
